Update to Sporties Class Rules
Sporties classes are intended to be introductory classes to racing. The rules that follow are intended to foster the spirit of fair competition. Riders are welcome to self-nominate to whichever class they want, keeping in mind the purpose of the Sporties classes is to introduce novice racers to the sport and allow people to build their skills without the intimidation of the ‘main’ classes.
In the first two rounds of the season, if a rider consistently laps faster than the times listed below, they will be moved up to the ‘main’ class immediately. Any points scored previously will not be carried over to the main class. If this occurs in the middle of a race meet, the rider will join the grid next on the session of the ‘main’ class. If the Sporties class is not sharing the same grid, their starting position will be at the back of the grid for the main class.
As the season progresses, for the purposes of promoting rider improvement, if a rider posts a time faster than the times below, it will at the discretion of the event officials to move the rider up to the main class or not. More discretion will be offered as the season progresses; it is not the intention to ruin any competitor’s championship. As a general guideline, a one-off lap will not ‘punish’ a rider. For example:
-
A rider in Sporties Superbike who has been progressively improving through the season, but at round 4 posts a 1:19.8 for one lap during one race, they will not be moved to the main class.
-
If a rider in Sporties Superbike posts multiple laps in the 1:17 range, it is likely they will be moved up to the Superbike class. Any championship points earned in Sporties Superbike will not follow.
Any rider that demonstrates the ability to lap faster than the times listed below, at any time during the season, will be expected to compete in the respective main class the following season.
-
Superbike – 1:14 QR National, 1:20 MP K circuit
-
Supersport – 1:16 QR National, 1:23 MP K circuit
These lap times are results from the 2025 season. We calculated the mean fastest laps posted by club level racers at these circuits to come up with these baseline times. In a situation where there is a concern for the safety of other competitors, officials may decide to move a rider up to the main class without consideration. These moves will be considered permanent.
Entrants may not cross enter both a ‘main’ class and the respective Sporties class. Entrants of either may cross enter into any other class with any eligible machine.
